Organisation

JMW (Jewish Social Services) co-ordinates a wide range of activities on behalf of the Dutch Jewish community and includes social work and community work.

From the moment of its foundation in 1946, looking after Jewish victims of persecution has played a major role in JMW’s social work activities. However, the emphasis has shifted towards giving more attention to the post-war generation, to strengthening the Jewish community’s sense of its own identity and, since the eighties, to the development of groups all over the country. The aim of these activities has been to increase opportunities for contact between Jews (developing networks).

Management and supervision
JMW has a professional Managing Director and a Supervisory Board. The relationship with the Jewish community is embedded in a Community Council. The Community Council comprises representatives of the three church congregations, organisations for war victims, the elderly, young people, Israelis living in the Netherlands and socio-cultural organisations. The Community Council has a maximum of 22 members.

Clients' Council
JMW's Clients' Council serves the interests of JMW's social work and home care clients and group meeting participants. The Clients' Council has an average of 7 members. All of these members were closely involved with one of JMW's services themselves and know from experience what clients' needs and wishes are.
